N-Numbers InformationN Number StylesAircraft Registration Numbers are available in either colored self-adhesive vinyl or an adhesive paint mask for a clean, sharp edge. All are pre-spaced in a continuous strip for ease of application. Experimentals (<180 kts), Gliders and Light-Sport Aircraft (LSA) can display 3-inch high N-numbers. Other aircraft, as detailed in FAR §45.29, must display 12-inch high registration numbers. Experimentals and Light-Sport aircraft also require additional decals which we offer here. Letter styles meet all applicable FAA requirements.
Additionally, we can add a shadow effect to all N Numbers for enhanced appearance on your aircraft. The various shadow styles are illustrated below.
N Number ColorsOnce you've selected a letter style, the next step is to choose from our wide range of available colors. We stock high performance films for permanent applications, as well as a less expensive film for temporary applications. NOTE: Due to monitor display variation, all colors are approximations. Please contact us for samples if you have a critical color requirement. Example: A five letter N-Number in 12" mask would be $34.50 Temporary LetteringOccasionally we are requested to provide temporary, and therefore less expensive, lettering. Some possible applications for this film include the anticipated sale of an aircraft, use as an alternative (more visible) paint mask or for truly short term placement. Pricing is the same as mask. (Shadow is double price.) Although the adhesive on temporary lettering has generally the same strength as permanent lettering, there are three primary differences:
For these and other reasons we urge our clients to stick with our high-quality film for permanent applications. NOTE: Most local sign companies which provide aircraft lettering only supply this lower grade of vinyl. Unfortunately, clients usually cannot tell until the lettering is cracking and peeling on their very expensive aircraft. Additionally, local shops do not normally supply FAA compliant lettering styles, potentially resulting in a grounded aircraft. Heard enough? You can place your Order Now! |
